Measuring by GDP?
Our economy is measured by Gross Domestic Product. There are major panics in Government if we have three quarters of negative GDP. It is the official called a recession. Governments are seen as doing well if they keep the GDP moving positively. But what goes into the GDP? The regrettable go into GDP. The GDP goes up every time two cars collide. Every time there is a divorce because divorcing couple spend money on it, the economy benefits. Every time someone take s an anti depressant the GDP goes up. Now that that tells us is that the GDP is not a great predictor of our happiness and yet we run our economy by it. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church and you will find other ways to measure a good life.
