Fear is autonomic and person salient
I am wondering if an aspect of fear is linked to identity, meaning and purpose for fear is autonomic, nobody chooses to be afraid. Autonomic means it occurs involuntarily or spontaneously, but not everyone is afraid of the same thing. There appears to be a detection system in operation which is person salient and sets off the autonomic response which suggest that a particular thing is dangerous to me. How might we explore the person salient aspect of fear? Might we find something of true identity within the person salient aspect of fear? Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
