Automatic pilot
Most of us live our lives on automatic pilot and we are oblivious to the fact that we are not present most of the time. That leads us to the past over determining the present because we are not there to take use of current information. Everything is dictated by what was true before and we are trapped in a single perspective, insensitive to context in which we think we know what is going on and we seek certainty which leads us to be often in error but rarely in doubt. We are not saved to only set ourselves on a spiritual autopilot and then coast to the finish line. Paul said that he pressed toward the goal for the prize of his upward calling (Phi 3:14) so it takes intentional effort. This pressing on is from the Greek word “diōkō” which means to “run swiftly” or to “run after” so it is a concerted effort to grow in grace and knowledge. Combating being on autopilot takes diligent work. So start today by experiencing a moment of effort and Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church
