The church
Someone defined community as ‘that place where the person you least want to live with always lives and when that person moves away God sends us another person to replace them!’ In life there is always someone we can project problems, and issues onto that in fact reside within you. When you meet the person you least want to live with you are meeting yourself in the mirror. As the comic character Pogo says ‘We have met the enemy and it us!’ This is an opportunity for self-knowledge however painful and the chance for forgiveness for them and ourselves. As Parker Palmer says ‘Wholeness is not perfection it is about living into our brokenness.’ This is the power of a church community. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
