Philosophy
It is not too long ago that a different philosophy pervaded culture than the philosophy prevalent today The people of that philosophy didn’t believe they were wonderful inside, they believed they were divided creatures, both splendidly endowed but deeply broken. They believed that their own struggle against their weakness and sin was the central drama of life, not the external drive for success. They had a U shaped pattern to their lives. They dug down and said what’s my core sin, A lot of them kept journals, they reflected on how did they did that day, and then they had honesty and self-awareness to think who will lift me up, (the other side of the U) who will serve as a model, what causes outside myself to which I can commit myself.
