Experiencing Sadness

Sadness is a very important emotion to experience. Science tells us that when we are sad, it conserves energy and gets us to consider what matters most. Sadness gets us to ask the tough questions. In sadness there are too many demands for one person to handle and we can outsource some of the pain. This enables our family and friends to rally around, to ignore this and try to go for happiness you have lost out in important relationships. By not truly experiencing sadness we might also miss out on God, listen to these words. ‘When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.’ Sadness hit Jesus as he wept at the pain felt by the sisters of Lazarus. Jesus knows what it is like to feel sad.
