Micro-boredom

Motorolla the phone company coined the term ‘micro-boredom’, the little snatches of time which to the modern mind are insufferable, such as waiting in line at the supermarket or sitting in traffic. These could be times of lovely delicious idleness of opportunity for attentiveness to the presence of God. How bad is it getting that we are bored? Action is normally boredom’s remedy. Author Gregg Levoy in his book Vital Signs says ‘if you dig a bit you can probably find out the thwarted desire that boredom is masking….that stone that has been thrown onto your path which will still bring you back to the need for action but it will at least be informed action.’ Moses received that little snatch of time at the Burning Bush, Gideon in the barn. God often throws a stone in our path to bring us back to our calling to become the person we are meant to be.  Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church
