Death and Resurrection
One of Lord of the Rings most endearing characters is Gimli. He is always prepared for a battle, one of his famous quotes is “Certainty of death, small chance of success- what are we waiting for?” My own quote for creating a culture of invitation in your church would be, ‘certainty of rejection, small chance of a yes, what are ‘we’ waiting for?’ Listen to Isaiah ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.’ Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
