The Called
Author Frederick Buechner defined vocation as ‘the place where your deep gladness meets the world’s deep need is a true calling’. When called by God we can be caught be surprise and carried off by something bigger than we have experienced before. It can be nerve wracking and thrilling at the same time. I have found that God is inviting us into mission on a constant basis, there are multiple invitations which enable us to discover who am I? Sometimes people say to me that they are waiting for their call, but in looking for the ‘burning bush’ type call we miss the smaller Godly invitations which are like fire drills for the bigger invitations. God invites us through our passions, gifts, dreams, song lyrics, patterns that have established themselves in our lives. Answer the call of God in your life and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
