Something greater
The sculptor Henry Moore once said that the secret to life was to have a task, something to which you devote your entire life and crucially ‘something you cannot possible do.’ Hitching ourselves to something greater than ourselves. A mission that we will never live long enough to see accomplished. The people who built Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris never lived long enough to see it completed because it took 182 years to build. What is the something in your life that you can ultmately never see come to fruition but may well bless the next generation(s). When I think of the early apostles who mostly died a martyrs death for the sake of the gospel, I am so grateful for their sacrifice following the example of Jesus. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
