Tears in a bottle
David is so afraid of King Saul that he walks into Gath the home of the King of the Philistines the enemy of Israel with the sword that had killed Goliath pretending to be a madman. Psalm 56 tells us about his emotional state “when I am afraid I will put my trust in you” The transition in this Psalm is amazing in how David goes from being afraid to not being afraid David says simply, put trust in the character of God. He cries out to God. For us it is easy to fixate on that which overwhelms us, the best the world can offer is to put faith in yourself. But David knows that God sees, hears, knows and remembers our suffering he puts our tears in a bottle. David says I know that God is for me.
