Vocational Call
God’s invitation to servant work is to enter into what God is doing. In Isaiah we hear God ask a question, “whom shall I send?” God speaks vocationally, there is work to be done. God spoke to Moses and gave him job of leading the children of Israel out of Egypt. God spoke to the disciple John in Patmos and through a vision he is given a job. God speaks to Isaiah in the Jerusalem temple and called him to work. Isaiah’s response was “Here am I send me.” If we accept God’s invitation we must be prepared to obey. It is not imposed work, God’s call is spoken as a question. It is never a matter of coercion we are invited in. Who is God calling you to invite?
