Guarantee that this will work

We are a society that wants certainty, we want guaranteed results and this attitude has infected the church where mission is concerned. Jesus said in the sending the 72 disciples out on mission that there were two guarantees. They would meet people of peace and they would be rejected, that was the guarantee. If the only cost of being rejected is the experience of being rejected, it’s a foolish compromise to err on the side of doing only the things that are guaranteed to work. Face the possibility of rejection and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
