Fear and the Developing Brain

I have become fascinated at how chronic fear impacts our bodies. Today I want to look at how it affects the brain

The Hippocampus is the organ of memory and mood regulation which is impaired by chronic fear

The Amygdala is the organ of anxiety and aggression and is increased in activity by chronic fear causing inbalance with the possibility of an anxious individual

The Prefrontal Cortex is the organ of working memory development and of self-regulatory behaviours under chronic fear it is less able to control emotions,  delay gratification and finds proactive planning difficult.

Jesus said don’t be afraid. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
