Yirah is Reality

Properly understood, Yirah fear offers us the sobering experience of seeing things as they truly are, without charm or illusion. The very essence of of this type of fear is recognition of one’s shortcomings. Knowledge of one’s flaws allows one to approach life with honesty, sobriety and pragmatism. Think of Moses at the Burning Bush as a good example of what happens to someone experiencing Yirah. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ (who says don’t be afraid for I am with you) and his church.
