Freaking turns to Euphoria
Bungee jumpers describe the experience of the jump off a high place as “freaking with fear which turns into euphoria.” They are looking for the feeling of intense joy. Seeking joy by jumping off a cliff, with an elastic rope tied to them. God promises to turn mourning and grief into joy. Weeping and lamenting to rejoicing. Jesus read the following verse from Isaiah and described it is a mission statement “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning”. In modern terms that would now be translated freaking into euphoria. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
