I will survive
In my youth I loved the song by Gloria Gaynor that started At first I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side….I will survive. The song talks about the fear of living life without someone special and the capacity of a human being to survive in the most difficult of circumstances. It is a song that does not reference God but does reference fear. In Christianity our familiarity with the phrase do not be afraid for I am with you has led us to undervalue its capacity to help so many people in this world who are looking for love but failing to find it. Invite someone to take a closer look at our God who has promised to not only live by our side but go with us wherever we go.
