The Response
In his book The lies we tell ourselves Chris Thurman quotes the following humorous saying “At age twenty, we worry about what others think of us. At forty, we don’t care what they think of us. At sixty we discover they haven’t been thinking about us at all.” Thurman goes on to say “People act the way they do because of who they are, not because of who we are. We can’t afford to lose sight of that fact.” Don’t fear someone saying no to your invitation, it reflects where they are.
