Take the pressure off
One young Christian woman told me recently that she was put off invitation as a youngster because she felt the pressure to invite, and reacted against the pressure. The pressure I believe came from the thinking of the church. We seem to be desperate to grow, and this results in a pressure onto congregational members. But we must remember the Apostle Paul saying I Paul planted, Apollos watered but it was God that gives the growth. Too much attention on the growth (which is God’s bit anyway) and we don’t plant and water. In other words we don’t invite and nurture our relationships. Take the pressure off and only invite if God prompts us to invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
