Invitational Struggle

Are we shielding our congregation members from the disappointment that they might feel in an rejected invitation? We want the Christian life to be so much better from a life without Christ that the temptation is that we wrap new born and maturer Christians up in cotton wool. During the struggle of disappointment however is a paradox in the Christian life, that it is often the times of disappointment and rejection when we can grow the most in our relationship with God. Just think of Joseph in the prison for ten years, Daniel in the lions den, Shadrach Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace. I think we need to remind our new born and maturer Christians that this can be hard and tough but that they are not alone, and whatever they are going through does not affect that they are loved. This is crucial not just to know intellectually but to know through experience. Invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
