The mini-deaths of invitation
In the area of invitation I have suffered many mini-deaths. The numbers of times over the years that I have been rejected, where I felt pain is now uncountable. The central message of Christ is that suffering and death bring resurrection and transformation. Jesus himself said “I tell you the truth, unless a kernal of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies it produces many seeds.” I have been accused of being a salesman, I have been ignored, I have been invited and then uninvited. I have experienced ostracism for not speaking the language of the denomination or the stream. Yet these mini-deaths have produced insights and observations that have produced hundreds and thousands of invitations. Invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church and know that whether you experience a rejection or an acceptance that God will work both outcomes for good.
