The Pharaoh Ratio
Moses invited Pharaoh ten times to follow God’s invitation to “Let my people go”. Pharaoh rejected God and Moses nine times, only on the tenth occasion did he reluctantly accept the invitation. In the New Testament it says when Paul presented the good news to the philosophers of Athens he said some of them sneered. Rejection is part and parcel of being the LORD’s servant. In the case of Pharaoh it even says that it was God who hardened the Egyptian monarch’s heart so that he would reject the invitation.
