Invitation Do try this at home!
A phrase often used in TV shows is “don’t try this at home”. The phrase is used when people in the TV shows do stupid, dangerous or crazy things and show them to millions of people and the programme makers don’t want to be responsible for injuries, deaths or any consequences that could happen to the audience. They cover themselves from any lawsuit, charge or accusation but still do it looking cool and captivating the audience. In the same way perhaps we should consider a warning sign where invitation is concerned. Congregations are horrified at times when the subject of invitation comes up. They think it is a dangerous, crazy thing to do with consequences such as rejection and ridicule. But I say do try this at home, or the workplace or with your neighbours, and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
