Invitational Ridicule
Worse that rejection for many potential inviters is the thought of being ridiculed. Before David defeated the giant Goliath, David’s brother ridiculed his character, treated him as an embarrassment to his family. Saul lacked confidence in David’s ability as a warrior and then when David approached Goliath, David had to endure Goliath’s scathing remarks. In invitation we will be rejected and from time to time we will be mocked and ridiculed. In invitation we need to play to an audience of one alone. So invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
