Invitation – The number
In your church there is one number that more than any other number predicts your success in mission. I want to define success as doing ordinary things extraordinarily well. One number is the most important, in restaurants it is the number of settings. The number of times a table is turned on an evening. It is not fascinatingly how much the each person spends. The number that is tracked in most churches is the usual Sunday attendance, or the amount of collection or tithe. I want to suggest that the number every church should track is number of invitations offered. This is the foundation number for usual Sunday attendance and finances. You must be clear about your invitational number and how you are going to track it. You can then focus on it like a laser beam and improve it.
