A Pathway to dealing with invitational fear
Fear is for the most part completely irrational. But to the person who has it it is completely rational. In the area of invitation we can fear that we might lose a friend over the invitation, that they might ask us a difficult question that we can’t answer. As a result of this we don’t invite. Here are five ideas for dealing with invitational fear and when linked together provide a pathway to invite
1. Admit that we have the fear to ourselves
2. Tell someone that we have the fear and ask them to keep us accountable for overcoming it
3. Think what is worse that could happen as a result of the invitation
4. Prepare to face the worst outcome
5. Improve on the worst outcome by thinking how you might approach the invitation differently
