The joy and pain of Free Will
If God speaks and we don’t listen then even God himself is powerless. God’s self denying ordinance that God places on himself not to intervene to prevent human beings facing the consequences of their actions are the terms and conditions of free will that he grants us. We see this in the first chapters of the book of Genesis when Cain harbours murderous thoughts about Abel. God knows those thoughts and pleads with Cain but does not intervene. Free will gives us the choice to love and be loved, but it also gives us the choice to harm others. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
