Blessing
It didn’t seem to be what God was blessing so we dropped it. So often we are making decisions based on what we call blessing, and not on the sometimes invisible work of God. That means we probably would have abandoned Joseph in prison in Egypt. We would have labelled Moses a no-hoper. Gideon a coward, Simon Peter unstable. Virtually every person God uses in scripture has periods in their life when they were hopeless and helpless. But all of them became a blessing in disguise. We cover our need to be successful with spiritual words like ‘blessing’. Thank goodness God seems to still use the hopeless and helpless to bless the world. God scandalously used murderers, adulteries, prostitutes for the purpose of the kingdom of God. Invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church and even if they say no, it doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a blessing.
