The giants of fear

Day after day Goliath came and shouted at the children of Israel, the description of Goliath is pretty fearsome. His height was six cubit, a bronze helmet, wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels; on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back.  His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him. This is exactly like fear, the enemy comes to you overdressed, so whose scared? It is no wonder that when David offers to flight the giant Saul questions his ability to face the giant. You need a testimony at this point and David had one, “I kept my fathers sheep I went after the lion and a bear”. I think he embellished the story when he said he caught the lion by its beard, because later on he says that The Lord saved me from the paw of the lion. Thus his testimony was not in his own ability, to paraphrase he said I am not standing here as David but in the name of The Lord. Invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church so they can face their giant of fear in the name of the LORD
