Suppressed Grief
I have been trying to explain the the power of the fear of rejection in the life of the Christian facing the possibility of mission. Rejection is the tip of a major problem. Rejection is the tip of unresolved issues of a person’s past. Catholic anthropologist Father Gerald A Arbuckle says “unarticulated grief is a powder keg waiting to be ignited into community destroying behaviour.” Ovid the first century Roman poet said “Suppressed grief suffocates.” Grief is stopping the progress of the gospel. Start to tackle your fear of rejection today by inviting someone to take a closer look at Christ and the church.
