The Colombo Approach
I think we should explore the possibility of better evangelism, by asking questions. If someone has got a personal objection any intellectual argument is not going to help. Now for those of us of a certain vintage, we were brought up watching the television series Colombo. Colombo was a detective famed for looking confused in an overcoat! He played the role of a befuddled thinker when trying to work out who committed the crime. There is a moment in every programme however when he says “there something about this thing that is bothering me, do you mind me asking you a question?” What follows is a series of questions. Asking questions invites people to participate. Invite someone (through a question) to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
