From fear to freedom
It was the fear of man that motivated Pharoah, the one who “did not know Joseph” to enslave an entire people. So I have had a question for a long time “what should we fear?” Perhaps I am asking the wrong question. It’s not “what” but “whom” that should concern us. And the “whom” is the Lord. This is the fundamental difference between the Hebrew words for fear in the bible pahad and yirah, between fear of the unpredictable, life’s ups and downs– and fear of a God who loves us. The incredible thing is that in fearing God, in having true yirah, we begin to release ourselves from the pahad, the many small or destructive fears that affect us. Fight your pahad fear today and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
