Martin Luther said “Wherever the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that one point.” In mission today when fear comes along as we think about inviting someone, we much prefer to avoid the fear and escape from it. This I would suggest is what Martin Luther is talking about in terms of flinching. This fear makes us unsteady, it shakes our self-confidence. Stand steady in that fact that God is with us despite the fear and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
