Hiding Failures?

Francesco Guicciardini in the sixteenth century said “If you are involved in important affairs you must hide failures and exaggerate successes. It is swindling but since your fate depends upon the opinion of others rather than on facts, it is a good idea to create the impression that things are going well.” Unfortunately this happens in church life as well. I might sum up the problem by recalling the phrase “If at first you don’t succeed hide all the evidence you tried!”The new testament told the truth, sometimes Jesus was not welcomed, sometimes the disciples found it difficult to understand him, eventually they ran away at the crucial moment. In invitation we need to tell the truth that we will face rejection and it is okay! Invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
