The road to discomfort

It’s so easy in the Christian life to gravitate towards what is easy and comfortable. It takes much less effort than challenging ourselves and moving towards a difficult task. By taking the easy route, we can just coast along. The road to comfort is crowded and rarely gets you there. Charles Spurgeon the great Baptist preacher said “I am certain that I never did grow in grace one-half so much anywhere as I have upon the bed of pain.”  Those who don’t veer away from discomfort when it comes their way are the ones that are able to make a difference, this is surely one of the themes of scripture. In mission we will need to travel the road of discomfort at times, invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
