Invitational Pushback
To receive pushback is to receive a negative or unfavourable reaction or response. The Pharisees and Scribes criticised Jesus and his disciples for not observing the Mosaic Law. They criticized his disciples for not washing their hands before eating. Jesus was also criticized for eating with the publicans. The Pharisees also criticized Jesus’ disciples for gathering grain on the Sabbath. But each pushback was an opportunity for truth to be put into untruth. It gave those pushing back an opportunity to hear good news. The application for us is if nobody is criticising what you are doing, are we doing anything important? Invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and his church and don’t worry about criticism or pushback because even Jesus received it
