In between a Rock and a hard place
It is apparent as I talk to many church leaders that they don’t have the energy or interest necessary for rethinking their approach to mission. They would need to challenge people, inspire, face criticism and take a look at creating an invitational event. There is frankly too much red-tape for them to go through and they conclude it is too hard. Certainly when you are paid by the very people you are encouraging to become missional, there is a conflict of interest. If you push people too hard…. you might lose your job! Church Leaders can be between a rock and a hard place. So if you are in that place take courage from Jesus who also had those closest to him reject and betray him and follow his lead and invite your congregation to invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and his church.
