Invitational Valor
Don’t you love the humour of scripture when an angel appears to Gideon, he calls Gideon a mighty man of valor. Gideon at the time is hiding in a winepress for fear of the Midianites. Just because an angel appears it gives no guarantees of safety other than the LORD is with you. Just because God says do not be afraid over and over again does not remove the fear. One needs an act of obedience. We romanticise these stories because we know how they work out well in the end. It is hard for us to imagine the terror. So mighty person of valor the LORD is with you so go and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and the church.
