Invitation and the fly zapper
I was sat outside the home of friends in Bendigo Victoria enjoying a late evening meal in the heat of the summer. As we were talking I kept on hearing the sounds of what I thought was an electric fence. As my friends were church leaders living next door to the church, I naturally assumed it was to keep out the parishoners! But later I realised what I was hearing was an Electric Insect killer. As the insects were drawn towards the light they were zapped dead. It reminded me that in invitation we need to deal with the enemy that attacks. Paul talks in war-like language about taking the sword of the spirit to that which seeks to attack and destroy. We need to attack our fears of inviting and invite someone today to take a closer look at Christ and His church.
