The passing of time in invitation
We can get so disappointed at the negative answer of a friend to our invitation. But invitational patience is learning to handle the passing of time. We need to know when an invitation is right for someone but they that their response shows that just need more time. Patience helps us to remain alert for the next opportunity to invite. Patience also enables us to keep getting ready to invite by learning how to get better at overcoming any fear. Patience allows us to take little setbacks in our stride. Patience allows us to wait on the decisions of those we have invited. But patience allows us to take a break from time to time because we know the fruit of invitation is in God’s hand. As James said “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.” Let’s learn the lessons of a farmer.
