Invitation and the Bumblebee Syndrome

I have studied people who are serial inviters and those of us who are not. My conclusion is that the most  intelligent  people don’t always become serial inviters, they can see too many risks. The person who starts to invite sees the opportunity and any fears of failure are swept away by possible success. They have what is known as the bumblebee syndrome. The syndrome goes like this, “Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn’t know it so it goes on flying anyway.”  Serial inviters are just like the bumblebee, they don’t realise that they could fall flat on their face. For the rest of us fear has a knife to our throats. For the serial inviter, they are thinking, it’s worth doing even if they fail. BUT for the rest of us we fail by default rather than run the risk of failing as a result of making the effort to invite. It is a mental game for us, we play it out in our minds, we wait until conditions are better and of course they rarely do get better. But Our gracious God has not left us alone with our risks and God is described like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.  So run towards your fears and like a bumblebee fly with God to become a serial inviter
