Should they make the first move?

One of the reasons that we don’t invite is that some of us think that that those outside church should make the first move to ask us about our faith or ask us if they can come to church. When it comes to inviting people to church, there’s no doubt that making the first move is nerve-wracking, but I’m on the side of the person who is to be invited where this issue is concerned. Whilst it can be full of fear for us to invite, my research tells me that it also nerve wracking for the invitee if they have to make the first move. They have to overcome the fear that they will also be rejected by us, and the internal fear that they have not got their lives in order to be acceptable to church. Overcome your nerves and make the first move and invite someone to take a closer look at Christ and the church.
